thursday, september 9 — pattaya, thailand

It was a fabulous and fascinating session at Yoga Pattaya. The room was alive with reverbertations of both sound and creative energy. It’s always a joy to chant in such acoustically live spaces. Unfortunately, and due entirely to my own carelessness, only a few fragments survive from the session. The first one is reminiscent of modern “classical” music, and the second one (because the klui reminds me of a ryuteki) makes me think of that splendid Japanese music (originating in the Heian period) Gagaku. Anyone else feel similarly?

That was the last session in Thailand for this summer; but hopefully it was only the beginning of a long series of sessions here in the land of the Buddha. Thanks to all who could attend and hope to see you in the not-so-distant future!

Sounds delightful, Charles. If you can, please tell our Thai counterparts that I dig their stuff. 🙂

Thanks for that nice comment, Toby, it really means a lot. I will pass along your sentiments, and I’m sure they will be appreciated! Look forward to seeing you soon.
